Dear All,
 
As you may or may not be aware there is currently a push to establish a NATIONAL DANCE QUALIFICATION!
 
I am personally not in favour of this as I feel it is not possible and does not address the many wonderful teachers who sit outside the world of academic qualifications in dance.
 
Whilst I don't think this will directly effect our world I feel it is very important for those of us working in the dance industry to have our voice heard to be sure the issue is not decided by academics.
 
The process to join the forum is a little lengthy but well worth it.

You have to join a thing called MC2 first to become a member = username and password - but then you are able to comment on and read others' comments as well as writing your own.

We already have a situation where many amazing teachers are unable to teach at Universities etc because they don't have the required "piece of paper" - is this where we want to see dance going in Australia?

CHILDREN’S ENTERTAINER NEEDED for DISCO & KARAOKE BIRTHDAY PARTIES

We are looking for energetic, bright and happy entertainers who love working with children.

You must be:

  • Be over 18 years.
  • Have own reliable car.
  • Available to work on Friday afternoons, Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Be able to commit to at least 3 parties a weekend.
  • Willing to travel all over Sydney to various disco’s.
  • Energetic enough to host school disco’s with up to 300 kids (how cool!).
  • You will be dancing the whole time; therefore you need to be able to teach simple dance routines.
  • Most disco’s go for 2 hours where trained entertainers get paid $110

    (rates differ for shorter or longer parties)

  • There is also a training period where you will need to watch a couple of discos and go on a 2 month probation period, where you will get paid $90 per 2 hour party.

Established in 1960, the Jean M. Wong School of Ballet is a well known dance institute in Asia Pacific region.  The School currently has seven studios throughout Hong Kong with a total enrollment of 2,500 students.  It is recognized as one of the most reputable ballet institutions in Asia.

The School has a vacancy for a professional and enthusiastic classical ballet teacher.  Candidates should either pass the Royal Academy of Dance Advanced 2 Level or have professional experience as a dancer in a classical ballet company.  Teaching experience is preferred.
