The Victorian State Ballet is Victoria’s premiere Ballet company established in 2003 under the expertise of Martin and Michelle Sierra. Counting for over 30 years of professional experience worldwide, both Michelle and Martin felt the need to feed the artistic gap of Victoria’s arts community with a repertoire based on the Grand Ballets from the 20th Century, neo-classical and contemporary ballets originaly choregraphed for the company.

Operating continuously throughout the year, The Victorian State Ballet – a non-profit organisation – covers a vast range of performance opportunities from festivals, full length productions, charities, commercial events and workshops and performances for primary & secondary schools to national and international touring. The Victorian State Ballet has received recognition and countless highly praised reviews during renown Adelaide, Sydney & Melbourne Fringe Festivals and the companys international tour in 2008. Michelle and Martins choreographies have also been highly praised in Australia & overseas bringing along the dance audience to a different level of entertainment.

VSB is also committed to supporting and helping develop young talented artists. Thus VSB Pre-professional Progam was created. This newly developed initiative became the tool to prepare graduate students from Austraia and worldwide to be part of a professional ballet company. The VSB Pre-Professiona Program consiststs of a full year of professional and career development.
Martin and Michelle Sierra are also co-founders of the Melbourne Dance Theatre School of excellence, established in 1999 and now already an authority within the dance industry. This institution caters for part-time and full-time students in dance studies and bases its main stream in ballet using the Vagonava methodology of the Russian school and incorporating the forefront contemporary styles of European and American contemporary dance techniques. The school provides a wonderful pathway into the professional world of dance, being the main feeder school into the MDT Company.
