Free Event: Artist Talk Debra Luccio’s

‘Images of The Australian Ballet’ at the

Hill of Content Bookshop, Melbourne

Melbourne-based artist Debra Luccio will present a free evening artist talk at the Hill of Content Bookshop on Thursday 2 February at 6.15pm.

Enjoy a glass of Pikes ‘Luccio’ Wine and listen as Debra Luccio discusses the artwork in her upcoming exhibition Images of The Australian Ballet and working with The Australian Ballet who this year celebrate their historic 50^th Anniversary. 

“I am always inspired by what I see and The Australian Ballet influenced me more than I was consciously aware of. When I saw the lovely blue of the windows at the dance studio I felt it reflected the emotion of the dancers, so I selected a variety of blues. The light cream walls encouraged me to be more sparing with the etching ink, allowing the light of the paper to be evident to help reflect the light of the studio in which the dancers were rehearsing,” Debra Luccio.

Debra Luccio is an award winning international artist whose work is represented in various collections both nationally and internationally including The New York Public Library. In 2010 Luccio was invited to exhibit at the Australian Consulate General in New York City and in 2009 won the CPM National Print Award.

The exhibition itself, Images of The Australian Ballet 6 March – 1 April 2012, will be officially opened by The Australian Ballet’s Artistic Director, David McAllister on Sunday 11 March at Steps Gallery in Carlton.
