EDC is proud to present its 5th Brisbane Contemporary Dance Intensive – now regarded as one of Australia’s best training programs in contemporary dance.  This week-long event is for dancers who are serious about a future in the dance industry and features the very best dance industry practitioners from around Australia as your teachers.

Intermediate Program (13-16 years old) – Monday 9 January to Friday 13 January, 2012

Advanced Program 1 – Ensemble Dance (17 + years old) – Monday 9 January to Friday 13 January, 2012

Advanced Program 2 – Solo Dance (17 + years old) – Monday 16 January to Friday 20 January, 2012

Times:        9.30am – 5.00pm Daily (Monday to Friday)
Cost:           $550.00 per person per week / $1000.00 per person for two weeks
Location:    O Block Dance Studios, QUT Kelvin Grove

INTERMEDIATE (13 – 16 years old)
9 – 13 January 2012

Start your year with one of the best dance experiences in Australia!

You will participate in an intense training program with a strong focus on contemporary technique and a wide range of other genres including classical, hip-hop, circus, jazz and latin.  Lead by EDC’s stunning dancers and other inspiring guest artists from around Australia, you will refine your technique, learn EDC repertoire, experiment with different styles and expand your versatility as a dancer.  At the end of the week, friends and family are invited to see you dance in an informal presentation in the studio.

ENSEMBLE DANCE (Advanced, 17 yrs +)
9 – 13 January, 2012

Collaboration is a vital tool in contemporary dance: performing as part of an ensemble, working with a choreographer to create new piece, rehearsing existing pieces, working across genres and art forms.

EDC Dancer Elise May leads your week. Elise’s diverse background ranges from working in the commercial dance world, small to medium sized ensembles, independent projects and collaborative projects in film and photography.

SOLO DANCE (Advanced, 17 yrs +)
16 – 20 January, 2012

This summer, focus on YOU as a dancer.  BCDI Solo examines what it is to work as a soloist or independent artist in the Australian dance industry.

Hone your contemporary dance technique, learn EDC solo repertoire for males and females and train with Australia’s award winning dancers to bring your own solo style to life! EDC’s Riannon McLean leads your week and shares her own experience in performing, auditioning, training, creating, and networking. Learn from her experience of what it takes to succeed as a solo artist in the world of dance.

Interested in both Advanced programs?  You can apply to particpate in BOTH Advanced weeks, for the discounted price of $1,000.00.


Entrance in the BCDI is by application only. Places are strictly limited to ensure high quality training.  It is desirable for participants to have completed a minimum of 5 years dance training.
