Noche Flamenca

One of Spain's most successful companies of flamenco dancers, singers, and guitarists, Noche Flamenca celebrates the fiery passion and sensuality of this complex and mysterious art form. Founded in Madrid in 1993, Noche Flamenca was born from the passion of Artistic Director Martín Santangelo and wife Soledad Barrio. Through years of persistence, hard work, and love, Noche Flamenca has developed into one of

Spain's most successful flamenco companies.

Hailed by critics for its transcendent and deeply emotional performances, Noche Flamenca is recognised as the most authentic flamenco touring company in the field today. Performance highlights in North America include Berkeley's Cal Performances, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, the American Dance Festival, Wolf Trap, and the Hollywood Bowl, among others. Internationally, the company has appeared in Australia, New Zealand, Greece, and Egypt, among others. With annual seasons in New York City and Buenos Aires, and return engagements around the world, the company has a dedicated global audience.

“Flamenco is a primal scream, an essential cry to express the joy, sorrow, comedy and tragedy of individuals and groups who are repressed by some form of limitation - social, economic, spiritual, physical, etc. In an attempt, through singing, playing and dancing, to free the soul from this oppression, we are impelled onto a tough but beautiful road full of miraculous human complexity. Flamenco is our vehicle,” exclaims Artistic Director Martin Santangelo.

“I can think of no current dancer in the world as marvellous

[as Soledad Barrio].” The New York Times
