Accredited Part-time Schools Guide 2017/18

In Australia dancing is second only to swimming for children who participate in activities outside of school. With this increase interest in dance we have also seen a rise in schools opening where the teachers have no qualification to teach dance. dancetrain advocates sending your child to a school that is accredited. There are a number of Syllabi and Associations available for your child to study in dance in a variety of styles, ballet, jazz, tap are just a few. Each of these Syllabi and Associations offer an examination process. A teacher must have undergone teacher training with their Syllabi and or Association before they are allowed to put students in for exams. So if your school is going through an exam process then your child is being taught by an accredited teacher. There are schools who do not do exams, in this case you can check the faculty profile often listed on the schools web page to see where the teachers have gained their teaching qualification. There is also a misconception that the younger children require little to no experience from their teachers. In fact the opposite is true, our children in their early years have very supple joints and are easily stretched and overloaded. Damage to these little bodies is not often recognised until much later in the child’s life. Take your time to find the right accredited school for your child and they will reap the rewards for many years to come. dancetrain’s list of part-time schools in the following pages and all have been checked for their teaching accreditation, there is also a list available on
