Ausdance Queensland in association with Judith Wright Centre presents BELL TOWER II SERIES 2009: Company Miji’s Reliquary

TUESDAY 2 JUNE 6.30PM – ONE NIGHT ONLY!

Assisted by Ausdance Queensland through their Bell Tower Choreographic Workshop, this work-in-progress showing platforms Company Miji’s and DesertSea Productions’ (Indigenous based production company) Reliquary prior to its complete presentation at the 2009 Dreaming Festival.

Reliquary: a shrine to keep sacred relics which have survived destruction.

Drawing upon the connections between Australian Indigenous and Korean spirituality to create a unique contemporary dance theatre - Reliquary brings together two unique choreographic talents in Korean Australian Soo Yeun You and Indigenous Australian Gina Rings, a Kokotha woman and former member of Bangarra Dance Company. Research into the project took the choreographers to central Australia where they worked with local Indigenous ladies to record songs, languages and landscape sounds.

The Bell Tower II Series offers lovers of dance the opportunity to experience works that have been evolving in the minds and bodies of Independent dancers and choreographers.
