select option

“sometimes you choose, sometimes it just happens’.

Quantum Leap is Canberra’s own youth dance ensemble, “making passionate contemporary dance for all audiences”.

In July, they present Select Option, a new full-length contemporary dance work.

Associate Directors Brian Lucas (QLD) and Liz Lea (London) with commissioned choreographers  Marko Panzic (So You Think You Can Dance) and Reed Luplau (Sydney Dance Company) bring their highly individual styles to work with Quantum Leap and Artistic Director Ruth Osborne over six months, creating a work of unusual intensity and depth.  Video producers Bearcage Productions will create a video set which envelops the action, and there will be an original music score by Australian composers Nick Ng and  Adam Ventoura. This contemporary dance performance features 44 young people selected from Canberra and the ACT region plus Cowra, Wagga Wagga, Sydney and Perth.

Select Option looks at choice and consequence, with the unique ideas of each dancer contributing to a collaborative work with the choreographers.

“Technically the performance was astonishing” Bill Stephens, reviewer, 2008

“Quantum Leap gave me the start and focus I needed to kickstart my career” Daniel Riley McKinley (Bangarra Dance Theatre)
