Course Details

Diploma of Dance Teaching and Management
The Brent Street Diploma of Dance Teaching and Management course develops dance teaching skills and knowledge across a broad range of dance genres and related choreographic techniques. This course also develops skills related to dance school Brent Streetbusiness management.

Cert IV in Dance Teaching and Management
The Brent Street CIV in Dance Teaching and Management course develops dance teaching skills and knowledge across a broad range of dance genres and related choreographic techniques.

Diploma of Dance – Classical Contemporary
The Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) in Classical Contemporary is a technically diverse course is based around the demands for highly skilled classical contemporary dancers across the international contemporary company industry.

Diploma of Dance – Performing Arts
The Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) in Performing Arts is Brent Streets signature performing arts training program (previously a Cert IV and now offered at a Diploma level) which develops skills required of performers to work in the musical theatre and commercial dance industries.

Diploma of Musical Theatre
Brent Street’s Diploma of Musical Theatre gives aspiring musical theatre professionals the best possible preparation for a career in this demanding industry. The Diploma is a full-time, one year intensive program focused on musical theatre technique and performance at an elite level.

Brent Street Academy
Brent Street Academy is a full-time Pre-professionals’ Program for school aged students who display exceptional talent in the performing arts combined with a commitment to completing year 12. These students are more than just talented; they have passion, drive and a high level of engagement in their performing arts training.

Scholarship auditions will be held on June 5th and you first must submit your information online and we will contact you to ascertain your suitability to audition. About BPAC
Following the successful lead of the McDonald’s Sydney Performing Arts Challenge, the Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge Inc. is bringing the latest in amateur competition for performers in various sectors of the Performing Arts right here to Queensland. Our commitment to youth in the Performing Arts is highlighted in our Mission Statement:

“The Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge Inc. is committed to fostering a professional environment which maximizes opportunities for all students of the performing arts to realize their full potential in the industry and in life by providing the top level of competition at professional venues and opportunities to work with professional performers.”

What makes this competition different from the rest is its focus on continually moving forward, providing a platform to build confidence and skill plus rewarding and encouraging competitors with the opportunity to participate in professional up to date workshops and receive prizes that will benefit their careers, such as scholarships, valuable equipment, and monetary bonuses.

By encompassing a high standard of competition in many sectors of Dance, the competitors, through their continued commitment to this event, will enjoy the benefits of both personal and professional growth. Furthering their education in this field will have a direct and positive effect and will assist with nurturing and developing their careers in the performing arts.

The Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge (BPAC) was established in 2005 and thanks to the generosity and support of private and corporate citizens/companies and together with the tireless support from a small number of volunteers the Challenge was brought to life and has grown considerably now boasting members throughout Queensland including:

Classical Ballet

Cecchetti Ballet is a leader in Australian dance education. It is an energetic organisation truly dedicated to the Art of Ballet. Cecchetti Ballet Australia has been training ballet teachers and students since 1934. It has a proud heritage directly linked to the classical traditions of 19th century Europe. Enrico Cecchetti contributed significantly to the development and strength of Russian ballet. He was a great virtuoso dancer, a world acclaimed teacher and an innovator ahead of his time.
Mission Statement:“The aims of Cecchetti Ballet Australia are to provide our teachers and students with the best ballet education, inspire them to achieve their full potential and foster in them a love and enjoyment of dance.”
Parents and students can be assured that Cecchetti Ballet:
– Maintains and expects high standards in the professional development of its teachers.
– Provides graded developmental syllabi relevant to children of today.
– Delivers flexible assessment and examination options for parents and students, giving them the opportunity to set goals and achieve success.
Cecchetti nurtures artistic creativity in children, artistic awareness, a love of movement and an appreciation of all other art forms, especially music.
Many professional dancers hold their Cecchetti ballet training and the teachers who taught them in high esteem.
Competitions and Awards: Each state holds our prestigious Enrico Cecchetti Medal Awards, culminating in the National Lucie Saronova Memorial Award where finalists from each state compete.
The coveted biennial Valrene Tweedie Scholarship is to assist worthy young dancers in pursuing their dreams.
Another biennial event is our International Scholarship, where our winners are given the opportunity to attend and compete in the International Cecchetti Competition held in Florence, Italy this year.
An Annual Teachers’ Conference and Summer and Winter Schools are held in each State. Several privileged students are selected to attend monthly Scholars Classes given by noted Ballet identities.
